The REC said INEC was fully aware of its duty to conduct a free and fair election and had put proactive measures in place to actualise this.
Mr Makinde also called for the removal of the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Oluwatoyin Babalola
Mrs Babalola added that the commission had commenced the training of security agencies for the election.
The Ondo state governorship election will be held on November 16, 2024.
He also urged the electoral body to be fair and transparent, ensuring that the votes of the electorate count.
The protesters alleged that the state REC, Oluwatoyin Babalola, was romancing a particular political party in the state.
The REC said the level of turnout during the voters’ registration exercise indicated that the electorate is anxious to participate in the election.
The revelation came as electorates continued to query the underperformance of the NOA in sensitising the people to voters ahead of the Ondo election.
Ms Babalola said there were 1,991,344 registered voters in the state as of the last gubernatorial election in 2020, and 1,729,641 collected their PVCs.
Ms Babalola told journalists in Akure on Thursday that 18 political parties had notified the commission of their intentions to conduct governorship primary elections.
