Troops from the 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA in conjunction with operatives of the State Security Service carried out the operation.
The report said that the operations were conducted between Friday and Saturday (today) following credible intelligence on kidnapping and criminal activities.
According to him, in spite of the attack, troops maintained operational dominance.
“IPOB sympathisers manipulated the blurred metadata and circulated altered versions online, falsely suggesting the images originated from Lagos and Oyo states,” said the army.
‘Operation UDO KA’ task force says it killed 13 armed members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra in the South-East.
In the South-East, Mr Buba said the troops of Operation UDO KA killed nine terrorists, arrested eight violent extremists and rescued six kidnapped hostages.
The Nigerian military said it killed 2,245 terrorists and apprehended 3,682 terrorists and criminal elements between April and June.
“We remain resolute in winning all land, air and maritime battles especially in the area of operation, the southeast.”
The Defence Headquarters says troops of Operation UDO KA raided several training camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the South-East and apprehended
He assured that the troops would continue to provide all security support to affected communities within the law’s ambit.
