He said some persons fled the area upon seeing the troops approaching the site.
Mr Gara said the raid had further disrupted the activities of criminal gangs responsible for killings, kidnappings, and other violent crimes within the area.
“The rescued officers are currently in safe custody of the troops, receiving preliminary medical attention and debriefing,” the statement stated.
Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke have dislodged armed herders and recovered an automatic rifle in Benue.
Mr Oni also stated that the troops arrested the suspects during a series of raids and destructions of criminal enclaves in Taraba and Plateau states.
