The head of Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial has criticised UN secretary general António Guterres for his remarks on the Gaza war.
Mr Herzog’s office quoted the Israeli president as saying, “Welcome, Mr President. God bless you for protecting the nation of Israel.”

Israel has asked the United States for $10 billion in emergency aid amid the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
European Union leaders are to discuss the raging conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has left more than 4,000 dead in the past 10 days.
“Until now, the Israeli government has not taken a position on opening the Rafah crossing from the Gaza side to allow the entry and exit of citizens of third countries,” said Mr Shoukry.
“We are preparing for a ground manoeuvre if it is decided. The military is preparing for the next stages of war.”

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) claimed that it was responding to an attack on a village occupied by Israel settlers when it mistakenly shot the boy.
“The secretary-general urges all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint and to work to stop hostilities immediately,” Mr Haq said.
