The reaction of the opposition leader came after the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) hiked the cost of a 32-page passport booklet to N100,000, and a 64-page booklet to N200,000.
Among the total travellers surveyed by Go.Compare, 84 per cent of those who were unable to board their original flights were booked onto different flights.
He assured that never again will there be backlogs of passports in Nigeria.
The minister lamented the delays in passport collection, stressing that it had forced many public servants to stay away from work to pursue their passports.
Ms Adepoju said, “91,981 passport booklets have been collected so far. There are 112,351 others not yet collected.”
Mr Tunji-Ojo said he received updates on passport enrolments daily.
“VFS Global has no role or influence on the decision of your visa application,” it said.
The immigration service said that majority of the passports had wrong phone contacts and untraceable addresses.
The agency said it was not true that getting one’s passport or renewing it at any of the offices was very difficult.
Mr Malami explained that “ it is not a matter over which the federal government can develop any interest.”
