Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the payment of N695.9 million as an Eid-el-Kabir bonus to civil servants and pensioners.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduoghan (PDP/Kogi) has distributed six truck loads of 7,200 bags of grains to her Kogi Central constituents.
“I want to make it clear: I am going to lead Nigerian pensioners in a protest so that the world will see that pensioners are suffering,” NUP vowed.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the benefits for a bright future.
Mr Ajayi stressed that PTAD discovered that 7,091 pensioners in the sector were being underpaid based on the payroll it inherited.
Pensioners in Katsina have appealed to Governor Dikko Radda to effect increments in their monthly pension.
He said that many states in the zone last paid their pensioners’ gratuities between 2012 and 2014, describing it as criminal and unacceptable.
“No fewer than 2,300 ghost names have been weeded out of the payrolls.”
“Those groups are going to benefit immediately from the removal of the fuel subsidy,” he said.
Stakeholders in Bauchi, Dutse and Gombe have advocated the repeal of jumbo allowance for ex-governors, their deputies and other officials in Nigerians.
