Police officers in Anambra are well-motivated and have high morale to carry out their responsibilities, according to the police commissioner.
“I call on residents to remain calm,’’ the commissioner pleaded.
He said the vehicles were impounded by the command’s newly created ‘Anti-One Chance Squad’ to curb the menace within the FCT.
“One of the IPOB/ESN members was shot and fatally wounded, while others escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds. Two others were, however, arrested.”
The hoodlums, upon sighting the police team, shot sporadically at them; the deceased was maimed on his leg while attempting to escape from the scene.
Operatives arrested the suspected leader of the gang, Emmanuel James, on May 11.
He said the rifles were recovered by a Safer Highway Patrol team while conducting an intelligence-led stop and search operation at Kwanar Garko in Garko Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrestedofr various offences, including armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearm, attempted murder, and cult activities among others.
The corpers were in a vehicle on their way to Lagos from Imo State when they were abducted.
