The federal government has inaugurated a gas-to-power monitoring committee to address persistent gas supply challenges undermining electricity generation.
Electricity consumers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) say they are willing to pay high tariff for improved and sustainable power supply.
Mr Akinrolabu, who chairs the Customer Consultative Forum for Festac and Satellite Town, urged DisCos to move beyond delays and excuses.
The federal government has inaugurated an 11-member project delivery committee to bring the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria into full operation.
According to power minister Adebayo Adelabu, the situation should be resolved within 48 hours.
The Islamic Development Bank has expressed its readiness to partner the federal government to address critical infrastructure gaps in Nigeria’s power sector.
Mr Adelabu said the government aimed to increase power generation to 6,000 megawatts by the end of the year.
“Having noticed a drop in demand during the off-peak period, we plan to stimulate demand by having a different tariff during the off-peak period,” said the power minister.
“The BEDC needs money to remain in business and serve its customers well. I will not stop you from disconnecting organizations or individuals owing,” said the minister.
