Mr Milei declared that the vote was proof that “Argentines do not want to return to the model of failure”.
Argentina is having a budget surplus for the first time in 14 years amid Mr Milei’s massive cut down on the cost of governance.
“A year ago, a degenerate printed 13 per cent of GDP to win an election, fuelling inflation. Today, monetary emission is a thing of the past,” said Mr Milei.
Argentina’s Interior Minister, Guillermo Francos, said in a statement that there was no apology to Spain over the comment.
The IMF Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, praised the ambitious plans of the new government.
