President Bola Tinubu and President Paul Kagame have resolved to activate mechanisms to deepen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Rwanda.
Messrs Kagame and Tshisekedi signed a peace agreement brokered by President Donald Trump in December 2025.
“We reaffirm Nigeria’s solidarity with Rwanda and look forward to continued collaboration in advancing peace and sustainable development,” said Mr Tuggar.
Mr Kagame insisted that Rwanda as a sovereign state would not be intimated.
Mr Kagame called the Belgians “shameless” for soliciting foreign sanctions on a nation as small as Rwanda.
He added “Should I fail to honour this oath, may I be subjected to the rigours of the law.”
Mr Kagame has been president of the country since 2000 but has, in practice, been leading Rwanda since 1994.
Kwibuka serves as a tribute to the more than 800,000 people killed by the genocide.
The Home Office is considering sending UK government lawyers to Rwanda to address concerns about the legal system there.
Mr Kagame spoke at a press conference alongside his Hungarian counterpart, Katalin Novak, in Kigali, the Rwandan capital.
