Mr Etsu ordered that the woman should observe a three month iddah (waiting) period before she could remarry.
The court said that according to Islamic law the father should cater for the children.
Mr Yahaya said, “I don’t have interest in her anymore, because I don’t trust her again.’’
The prosecution opened its case on September 17 with four witnesses.
The presiding judge, Okogbule Gbasam, held that there was no proof that the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmaker defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The embattled pro-Wike lawmakers were listed as 1st to 25th defendants.
“The respondent is hereby sentenced to three weeks’ community service with effect from today,” the judge ruled.
The Benin Division of the Edo High Court, on Thursday, sentenced a 26-year-old printer, Ufumen Victor, to three years in prison for fraud.
The judge directed the prosecutor to forward the case file to the state DPP for legal advice.
The petitioner, who resides in Jikwoyi, told the court that her husband “chases women around.”
