Mr Okaba stated, “Our people are subjected to human rights abuses, all to protect oil assets while denying us the benefits from them.’’
The congress urged other leaders to emulate Mr Dickson’s example of principled leadership and courage in the face of adversity.
He said that the court judgement in Rivers would not stand the test of time.
Mr Okaba said that deliberate measures must be taken by ljaws globally to condemn the increasing spate and scope of underdevelopment.
“These problems require immediate attention, pragmatic policies and actions by all in and out of government,” he said.
