The victims were said to be travelling to Enugu on Saturday for a burial, when they were attacked by the unidentified hoodlums.
He urged them to stop the destruction of lives and properties by deploying its personnel to prevent further attacks.
The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.
According to him, the police had also neutralised some armed men in the area and recovered vehicles and lots of police and military uniforms.
The police boss said that various dangerous items were recovered from the suspects, including locally made single barrel guns.
“The DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.”
Mr Abdullahi said the injured were taken to Wudil General Hospital for treatment, while the corpses of the deceased were handed over to relatives of the victims.
The State Fire Service attributed the incident to electric spark from the ATM machines.
The resumption was shifted due to governorship and the state assembly elections that the INEC postponed from March 11 to 18.
The fire service spokesman said the inferno completely razed 14 permanent shops, five temporary ones and one mosque.
