UNICEF and NPC have rolled out the birth registration of one million children in Kano in 2023 using the digital system.
Mr Farah said the children were scattered across 44 local government areas (LGAs) with the majority resident in Kano state followed by Jigawa and Katsina.
Rahama Farah, UNICEF’s chief of the Kano field office, gave the hint on Wednesday in Kano at a stakeholders’ workshop on ending corporal punishment in schools.
“In Nigeria there are 18.5 million out-of-school children, 60 per cent of these are girls,” Mr Farah said.
The Kano government and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have unveiled a report on children’s rights and well-being.
