The federal government has revealed it will receive 500 tractors assembled by the John Deere Group to improve mechanised farming.
Some residents who spoke to journalists in Abuja appealed to the federal government to ensure the impact was felt on food prices.
Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has temporarily banned the sale and distribution of food items and other farm produce in Niger to other states in Nigeria.
The minister said that the government would also take measures to ensure that food continues to be accessible and affordable to Nigerians.
