“If children are not immunised and contract communicable diseases, they are more likely to die,” Mr Mohammed said.
Ms Rafique said the UN agency also supported the state government with 47,000 bottles of multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS).
Mr Mohammed disclosed that the state had received a total of 2.5 million doses of the Novel Oral Polio Vaccine.
Mr Mohammed said that the Bauchi State government allocated N50 million as counterpart funding for the UNFPA to supply family planning commodities.
Mr Mohammed said, “We don’t have any confirmed cases of cholera in Bauchi State, but we have 50 suspected cases and one suspected death.”
Mr Mohammed said the vaccination exercise will run from August 24 to September 2, 2023.
According to him, the law will take care of the six-month or four months of maternity leave for breastfeeding mothers and students.
“The worst hit local government areas are Alkaleri, Bauchi, Tafawa Balewa, Ganjuwa, Dass, Kirfi, Toro, and parts of Kanam in plateau.”
The Bauchi government has approved N15 million to enhance preparedness against the outbreak of gastroenteritis.
The carrier was said to have come into Bauchi from Adamawa and he is presently receiving medical attention at one of the facilities in the state.
