The police spokesperson said the deceased had been deposited at the Fakoya Hospital mortuary in Sagamu.
Ms Okpe explained that the accident occurred at 11:40 a.m. and was caused by excessive speed on the driver’s part, leading to loss of control.
The crash involved a Chevrolet SUV marked WWW 75 MW and a truck with registration number SRA 584 XB.
Eight persons were involved in the accident, but two escaped unhurt.
The driver of the commercial vehicle, a Toyota Sienna marked APP 830 HX, was said to have been speeding and lost control.
The joint protest had in attendance students from OOU, TASUED and FUNAAB.
The corps said the accident could have been averted if the truck driver had adhered to the stipulated speed limit.
