“These prohibitions, including sanctions, are provided for in Section 96 of the Electoral Act 2022,” he said.
This represents 85.57 per cent of the 2,629,025 total registered voters in the state, according to INEC.
He appealed to media organisations and observers to abide by their codes of professional ethics and INEC’s regulations and guidelines during the election.
“We will intensify the information flow as we move closer to the Edo governorship election,” he said.
The INEC chairman appealed to registered voters in the affected units to come out with their permanent voter cards (PVCs) for the exercise.
INEC has released the final voter register for the Edo and Ondo governorship polls.
The commission said the figures do not include the 8,847 applications for transfer into Edo and the 3,132 into Ondo from other states of the federation.
Mr Olumekun said though no casualties were recorded, the building was extensively damaged.
INEC also revealed that 17 political parties will field candidates and participate in the Ondo governorship election.
The INEC official added that the daily duration of the exercise was also extended from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
