The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed its operatives to depots and filling stations in Cross River to ensure petrol is available to the public.
“We have sensitised our men on the Electoral Act 2022. Security agencies have a role to play in the Electoral Act. Hence our men should know that there are sanctions for compromises.”
Mr Fadeyi encouraged everyone to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation.
He said that the private security companies had a role to play in combating security challenges by gathering and sending out timely information to security agencies.
The carnival comes at a time when political activities and campaigns for the 2023 elections had commenced for different political parties.
The suspects were arrested in Calabar, Ikom and Ogoja local government areas for various crimes.
The attempted vandalism was to syphon petroleum products into the facility of an energy and gas company.
The stolen products, which were mainly diesel, were stored in drums and gallons and hidden in different trailer parks in the state.
The suspects said they bought the products from oil dealers in Port Harcourt.
“The law mandates that all private guard companies must register with the agency before operating in the state.”
