Anambra has taken delivery of its allocated vaccines under the L-PRES project for mass vaccination of livestock against major transboundary animal diseases in Nigeria.
He said the intervention would empower the state to tackle trans-boundary animal diseases.
The facilities were inaugurated by the Minister for Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, in Zaria.
“This workshop falls squarely within the scope of sub-component three of the L-PRES Project Appraisal Document, which focuses on animal health services,” he said.
Mr Abubakar said, “Our goal is to enhance productivity, commercialisation and resilience of Nigeria’s livestock value chain.’’
The hospital will be located within the newly established 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Development Zone in Gombe.
Mr Abubakar said the 120 million doses produced annually by the National Veterinary Research Institute were grossly inadequate.
The minister said the visit was part of the federal government’s efforts to put the sector on a strategic growth path.
He stated that it would also create jobs, boost productivity, and promote sustainable practices.
The governor said that Enugu had moved agriculture from a subsistence activity to business.
