The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) held a public hearing with stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday to address power system disturbances
NBET was licensed as a bulk trader by the commission on August 23, 2011.
NERC said the deployment of funds under the MAF scheme would accelerate the deployment of meters and a closure of the current metering gap.
He added that as a result of the non-payment of subsidy, gas supply and power generation had continued to dip.
He said that in the tariff, NERC included some provision that would ensure that the DisCos pay what they are obligated to pay.
KAEDC is one of the five Electricity Distribution Companies taken over by their funders.
The commission is said to be earmarking N2 billion for computer equipment and over N1 billion for training.
The group asked the federal government to set up a committee to monitor the interest of electricity consumers.
“Also, with the takeover of Ibadan DISCO by AMCON, the BPE has obtained approval from NERC to appoint Kingsley Achife as the interim managing director.”
Mr Garba blamed the recent collapse of the national grid on inadequate gas supply.
