Ms Okechukwu said, “During questioning the teenager identified the defendants as being responsible for her condition.”
The defendants, Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40, and his wife, Chisom Chukwuyere, 30, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder.
The police prosecutor told the court that the case was reported on July 13 by the father of the five-year-old girl.
The police prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 130(2) (a) (b) of the Administration Criminal Justice Law, 2022.
The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate adjourned the case until March 19 for hearing.
