“Two of the operatives were fatally wounded while one is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.”
“We urge the State Government and security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Mr Igboji said.
Ms Onovwakpoyeya added that the armed men are suspected to be members of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“One of the IPOB/ESN members was shot and fatally wounded, while others escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds. Two others were, however, arrested.”
The police command in Ebonyi has rescued a police inspector attached to the Police Detective College, Enugu.
The police command in Abakaliki, said that the priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Azubuike, was released unhurt by the kidnappers.
Some armed men, suspected to be IPOB members, went to Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state on Monday afternoon and shot sporadically.
The victim was on Sunday, June 18, killed by suspected kidnappers operating along the Ishiagu/Mpu road and abducted his wife.
“I do not have such report. We can only know about an incident if it’s reported to us,” Ms Onovwakpoyeya added.
The traditional ruler was murdered at his palace on Feb. 27.
