The ASUU president said the union won’t back down on its ongoing strike due to Federal Government’s failure to honour the 2009 agreement.
Relatives of patients with no means for private hospitals now patronise healing homes or herbal centres.
An ASUU chief explained that the action follows the branch’s resolution, with respect to government attitude towards their salaries and allowances.
The umbrella body is demanding the federal government implement an agreement reached in 2010.
Mr Sirika said the sector was in a recovery mode, therefore, not the time for threats of industrial actions.
Mr Ngige said striking doctors will not be paid for the period they are on strike.
“The directive is a proactive measure to protect communities and travellers in anticipation of increased traffic on Kaduna-Abuja expressway.”
Resident doctors began a nationwide strike on April 1 to demand improved welfare packages.
The union said the government was nonchalant about issues in the sector despite many negotiations.
