The fourth African Youth Games, which began on December 10, will end on December 20.
Mr Fagite encouraged the athletes to give their best and aim for the best.
Nigeria’s men’s team, captained by Kuti, dominated the final, defeating Côte d’Ivoire 3-0 to win the team event.
Opeyori earlier, on Tuesday lost his first match 0-2 (20-22 14-21) to Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi.
There are five medal events in the competition —- men’s and women’s singles, mixed doubles and men’s and women’s team.
ITTF said the men’s singles draw welcomes African powerhouse Quadri Aruna from Nigeria alongside the Americas’ rising talent Nicolas Burgos from Chile.
He said the festival, which would be held between May 2 and June 7, would be bigger and better than the 2023 edition.

Mrs Doregos said education and sports play a significant role in maintaining good health.
For the 13th African Games, table tennis is one of the sports that will kick-start the games before the official opening on March 8.
