Taiwan has had an independent government since 1949, but China considers the self-ruled island its territory.
“America is committed to a One China policy but that does not mean China has the jurisdiction to use force to take Taiwan…My expectation is that will not happen.”
“From Ukraine’s performance, we can be even more confident on our own,” a Taiwanese government advisor on China said.
“Taiwan has always been an inalienable part of China. This is an indisputable legal and historical fact.”
China says it’s asked the EU not to send the wrong signals to “separatist forces advocating Taiwan’s independence”.
