According to the West Africa director for Google, Olumide Balogun, technology holds the power to transform lives and economies.
Mr Oyedele described unorthodox means of revenue collection as embarrassing and unacceptable.
Mr Oyedele explained that the harmonisation and simplification of taxes would not reduce revenue as some people erroneously perceived.
According to him, this will open up a vista of employment opportunities.
Mr Oyerinde condemned the unfortunate looting that had characterised the protest in some parts of the nation.
Mr Oyedele pointed out that Nigeria’s budget was higher than its revenue and at about N18 trillion, representing only half the required funds.
The problems mainly are with the states and local governments.
Mr Oyedele said the proposed new reforms would focus on the top five per cent of that sector, the middle class and the elite, for taxes.
“If you earn an income legitimately, you must pay tax.’’
