Ms Ndidi said the adjoining towers, T100 and T101, were also vandalised, although they remained standing.
”The TCN apologises for the inconvenience this may cause, especially given the yuletide and end-of-the-year festivities,” the company said.
TCN said that Yenagoa metropolis and other parts of Bayelsa had no power supply following the towers’ damage.
TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, said the fire erupted at about 2:41 a.m. on Monday, resulting in a power outage in some areas nationwide.
“TCN is currently transmitting fully the 30MW allocated to Dan Agundi substation to the Kano Distribution Company (DisCo) feeders within the substation.”
