Some civil servants welcomed the reintroduction of gratuity in the federal civil service, describing it as a major relief that will ease financial burdens after retirement.
Mr Pantami said the policy was in line with the International Telecommunication Union’s policy document for all its member countries.
The minister assured residents that “there are tremendous efforts by all relevant authorities, to ensure that the FCT continues to enjoy lasting peace.”
Contracts approved include those for procurement of transformers and vital spare parts for maintenance of power transmission equipment in parts of the country, the minister said.
