The National Emergency Management Agency has commenced developing a National Policy on Relief and Rehabilitation Interventions for Nigeria.
The technical team led by the agency’s director, Search and Rescue, Usman Bature, arrived in Lagos on Wednesday night and proceeded to the incident site.
Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency’s response team arrived at the scene around 11:09 a.m. to find the building completely collapsed.
Muhammad Habibu, father to a deceased victim, said the relief materials would assist them at a time that they lost a helper.
“Some of the homeless were seen under makeshift tents in unhealthy conditions.’’
Other items distributed were vegetable oil, garri, tin tomatoes, seasoning, mattresses, mosquito nets and blankets.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said no fewer than 250 shanties, 200 makeshift buildings, and 40 sawmilling machines were burnt down.
