Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has called on Muslims to intensify prayers for the country’s leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Mr Junaidu, the directive aligns with Islamic tradition, which relies on moon sightings to determine the start of a new month.
The monarch said, “Everyone must join hands with the corps for the success of the campaign.’’
“We promised to make Nigeria safe, and the security agenda has been a top priority of the administration for the past year,” Mr Tinubu said.
“My fear has been confirmed in Gabon that copycats will start doing the same thing until it is stopped,” said Mr Tinubu.
“Security remains the bedrock of any societal development. As such, strengthening it will enable us to excel,” Mr Abubakar said in his Eid-ul-Adha message.
The statement prayed to Allah to help all Muslims in the discharge of their religious duty.
Mr Abubakar announced the sighting of the new crescent in Sokoto on Wednesday in a radio and television broadcast.
Mr Abubakar made the call on Sunday in Sokoto in a statement by Sambo Junaidu, the chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council, Sokoto.
The president insisted that if Nigerians respect the rule of laws a better country would be achieved.
