It advised disaster risk managers, agencies and individuals to be proactive to avert the loss of lives and property during the rainy season.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and thunderstorms from Wednesday to Friday across the country.
“There are good prospects of continuous rains…and as such, flash floods are likely to affect some parts of the region.”
“Electric surges can occur, so the public is advised to be cautious.”
According to NiMet, strong winds are likely to precede the rains and as such, unsecured objects and weak buildings may be blown away.
The agency anticipated isolated thunderstorms over parts of Enugu, Abia, Edo, Ebonyi, Ogun, Ondo, Imo, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom.
Rainfalls are expected over most parts of the inland and the coastal cities of the South during the morning hours.
