Stakeholders in the waste management sector have expressed support and raised concerns over the proposed reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation in Lagos.
The reintroduced sanitation will take place every last Saturday of the month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Mr Wahab stated that operatives also dismantled illegal structures on the road setback that had been converted to makeshift dwellings.
Mr Wahab explained that the market was sealed over repeated environmental infractions.
The commisioner said, “We were at Obalende sometime in 2024, towards the end of the year, to assess and clean out and clear out Obalende.”
Mr Wahab said the suspects were apprehended on Saturday on Ikorodu Road.

Mr Wahab said the arrest was part of ongoing effort to reclaim public spaces.
The raid was carried out on the Mainland area of the state.
“The Yakoyo restaurant not only broke the government’s seal, but they went further to unleash armed thugs on officials who were lawfully carrying out their duties,” said Mr Wahab.
