Mr Alkali assured that NRC would evacuate the distressed coaches from the tracks to guarantee the resumption of services as soon as possible.
“I just discussed with the contractor that, by God’s grace, we are going to segment the project. We will complete Kano-Daura next year (2025),” said the minister.
The maiden freight train departed from Apapa Port in Lagos on Thursday and headed to Ibadan, laden with 30 units of 40-feet containers.
The minister said the e-ticketing system will direct ticket sales revenue to the government’s funds.
