The commissioner stated that the diagnoses and treatment of tuberculosis were absolutely free of charge.
Mr Iwuanya said that there was a need for relevant data to justify the need for increased budgetary allocations for TB.
Ms Maikudi, who described TB as a contagious disease, said effective awareness campaigns were essential to educate the public, reduce stigma and promote early detection and treatment.
The document lays out ambitious new targets for the next five years that include reaching 90 per cent of people with TB prevention and care services.
“Efforts to bring TB under control have been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.”
