Mr Mamu, in the suit, is challenging his designation as a “terrorist” by the AGF while standing trial.
About $300,000, a Toyota Camry (Muscle), a Peugeot 5008, a Lexus, a Mercedes E350, and a Hyundai belonging to Mr Mamu were seized, SSS said.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a ruling, dismissed the application on the ground of insecurity of the custodial facility.
“I am going to allow the defendant to have access to his own physicians, and whatever they do will be under the supervision of the prosecution,” the judge ruled.
Mr Ekwo granted the prayer and ordered everyone to vacate the court except the parties in the suit.
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court granted an application by the federal government to protect witnesses in the prosecution of bandits’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu.
Mr Mamu, a former bandits’ negotiator, was, on March 21, arraigned by the office of the attorney-general of the federation on 10 counts bordering on terrorism financing.
Mr Mamu was also accused of exchanging voice note communications concerning acts of terrorism with Baba Adamu, a Boko Haram spokesperson.
SSS’ counsel, A.M. Danlami, told Justice Nkeonye Maha shortly after the matter was called for hearing.
The SSS said its “investigation has assumed a wider dimension and sophistication requiring time and advanced expertise to conclude.”
