Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he is not willing to discuss peace, emphasising that time is not on Kyiv’s side.
Mr Macron said he and Mr Starmer proposed a month-long ceasefire in the air, at sea, and in relation to energy infrastructure in Ukraine.
The pair previously met during Mr Zelensky’s surprise visit to the UK in February 2023 in a historic audience at Buckingham Palace.
He added that a European coalition aims to defend Ukraine and guarantee peace.
The heated meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Zelensky sparked reactions from world leaders with many of them pleading to stand with Ukraine.
“He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office,” Mr Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.
Turkey, a NATO country with ties to Ukraine and Russia, would be happy to host and mediate, Mr Erdogan said in a video address on Monday.
Chinese state television reported that Mr. Putin told Mr. Xi that Russia was committed to eliminating the causes of the “Russian-Ukrainian conflict.”

The meeting comes on the day of the third anniversary of Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine and days after Mr Trump falsely blamed Ukraine for starting the war.
