UN secretary general Antonio Guterres has condemned the violence from the power struggle between two generals in Sudan.
UN secretary general Antonio Guterres has emphasised UN support to Africa in his fight to end the scourge of terrorism, noting that the situation in the region is worrisome.
According to reports, a militant group had claimed responsibility for the attack at the crowded mosque.
Mr Guterres, who made the pledge at the end of year press conference at UN Headquarters, said “We owe it to people to find solutions, to fight back, and to act”.
Mr Obasanjo said Ethiopia’s government and Tigrayan authorities had agreed on an “orderly, smooth and coordinated disarmament.”
“The current food crisis may rapidly turn into a food catastrophe of global proportions in 2023,” Mr Guterres said.
The cost-of-living crisis could spark a “cycle of social unrest leading to political instability,” the UNCTAD boss warned.
As of Wednesday evening, only Mr. Guterres was known to have been nominated for the post.
