Stephanie Tremblay, a spokesperson for the secretary-general, noted that the church was both a place of worship and a sanctuary for civilians.
“All perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable,” Stéphane Dujarric, his spokesperson, said on Monday.
Iran reportedly fired several missiles at Al Udeid Air Base, where some 10,000 troops are reportedly stationed.
The advisory came after the U.S. strikes against three Iranian nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan in the early hours of Sunday.
The UN chief said, “Africa is a continent of boundless energy and possibility.’’
Mr Guterres expressed deep concern over deteriorating relations between the two South Asian neighbours, saying they had reached “their highest in years.”
Yacoub El-Hillo, regional director of the UN Development Coordination Office, praised the AU-UN collaboration.
Under the UN80 Initiative, the UN chief said that a dedicated internal task force led by Under-Secretary-General Guy Ryder will develop proposals in three key areas.
“Meanwhile, the conflict continues to rage in South Kivu and risks engulfing the entire region,” he warned.
