Kwara’s first lady, Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has called for united and sustained action against gender-based violence.
Its chairwoman, Oluchukwu Ik-Odeh, stated that the cases included child abandonment, female disinheritance, and spousal battery.
Ms Adegboye said there were 793 reported cases of child defilement.Â
The group said ignorance about violence against women or the VAPP law was no longer an excuse, but a choice, and asked victims to report cases of abuse.
The lawyer said the VAPP law has expanded the meaning of rape to now include any kind of touch on any part of the body considered inappropriate.
