Terror Alert: Police chief rolls out emergency numbers to avert attack 

Inspector general of police Usman Baba has released emergency numbers nationwide amid a warning from the United States of possible terror attacks in Abuja.
The U.S. issued terror alert warning American citizens about potential terror attacks in the nation’s capital.
According to Mr Baba, the police are on red alert and collaborating with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives.
“Residents within the FCT are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence and persons to the Police through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883,” the IGP said in a statement by the force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Similarly, Mr Baba ordered the activation of all emergency numbers across the country to full capacity for a 24-hour prompt response.
According to him, police operatives should be on standby to respond to emergency cases and distress calls.
The police chief also asked all “strategic police managers” in charge of commands and tactical formations within the country to beef up security in their respective jurisdictions, especially in the FCT.
While assuring that all hands are on deck to nip any security threat in the bud, Mr Baba urged Abuja residents to continue their routine without fear.
On Saturday, the U.S. issued a terror alert warning of potential terrorist attack on the capital, with government buildings, places of worship, markets places and schools being main targets.
Worried about the heightening threat of the potential attacks, the U.S. Department of State directed the U.S. Embassy in Abuja to evacuate its staff and family members.
