Mr Goronyo made this pledge when a delegation from the Sokoto-Rima River Basin Development Authority visited him in Abuja.
“I don’t see any reason why you cannot be procuring your sorghum from our farmers here,” the Enugu governor told a brewing firm.
He said the initiative was part of strategies adopted towards addressing hunger and poverty among citizens of the state.
Mr Sarkin-Yara stressed the need for NOA and BASDP to embark on vigorous sensitisation on the federal government’s agriculture and food security policy.
According to the National Statistics Office, the number of livestock in Mongolia stood at 64.7 million at the end of 2023.
Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, said this in Abuja at a High-Level Strategic Engagement on Climate Change, Food Systems and Resource Mobilisation.
“The bank has allocated $46.7 million to support agriculture value chain development, notably for rice, sesame, sorghum, and fish.”
The governor said he was ready to provide lands for investors who were interested in agriculture.
This, he said, would also foster sustainable agricultural practices in the state and Nigeria at large.
The inputs distributed to the trained farmers included liquid fertilisers, Knapsack sprayers, seeds, agrochemicals, and fish and poultry feeds.
