Mr Jamilu urged Muslim faithful to imbibe and practice the lessons of the season.
He emphasised the significance of the holy month, describing it as a time of sacrifice, self-denial, and supplication.
He stated that reports of the moon sighting were received from Muslim leaders and organisations across Nigeria.
The directive coincided with the decision of the Bauchi government to shut down all schools in the state for five weeks in the spirit of Ramadan.
“The five-week holiday is for Ramadan fasting, and immediately after the fasting, they will resume and continue with their academics,” said a government official.
“Given the complexity of the medical condition, further days of clinical stability are required,” an evening bulletin stated.

According to him, the extension is to give opportunity to more intending pilgrims to complete payment and registration.
