It was replaced by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, effectively reducing the status of culture to a department within a broader portfolio.
The minimum wage of doctors was raised from N215,000 to N503,000, while that of tertiary institution teachers increased from N119,000 to N222,000.
“So, we are supporting our president, and I know that he will get 100 per cent votes in the South-East in 2007,” said the junior labour minister.

With the defection, the APC has 24 out of 26 members, while the PDP has two members in the assembly.
