The inspector-general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned against the misuse of police authority in civil disputes, particularly matters of land ownership.

The move to withdraw the defamation suit filed by IGP Kayode Egbetokun was stated in a notice of discontinuance dated January 29, 2025.
