WAFCON: Nigeria’s Super Falcons prey on Bayana Bayana of South Africa, book spot in finals

Nigerian Super Falcons on Tuesday defeated the defending champions, Bayana Bayana of South Africa, in the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s African Cup of Nations to book their spot in the finals.
Impressive Nigerian side won South Africa 2-1 in a fierce game at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, making it into their historic 10th WAFCON finals.
Rasheedat Ajibade gave the Super Falcons the lead in the 45th minute, netting from the spot after a penalty was awarded against the South African team for a foul.
South Africa, however, fought their way back into the game in the early minutes of the second half, netting an equaliser from the spot also.
With both teams having a goal each, they fought hard to grab a win until Nigeria struck again.
This time, defender Michelle Alozie’s superb free kick in the 90th minute delivered a crucial win.
Tuesday’s Victory positions Nigeria for a 10th WAFON title as they await the winner of the other semi-final game between host Morocco and Ghana.
