The Zamfara government has shut down the Urban and Regional Planning Board (ZUREP) and directed its staffers to report to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for redeployment.

The directive was contained in a statement by Kabiru Yusuf, permanent secretary of the ministry, on Sunday.

Mr Yusuf said the directive was in compliance with resolution No. 31 of the Zamfara House of Assembly.

“The commissioner, ministry of housing and urban development, Muktar Ahmad Darma, to deploy all professional and non-professional staff under the board back to the mother ministry by Monday, August 22, 2022,” the resolution recommended.

It directed all the affected staff members to report to the office of the ministry’s permanent secretary for redeployment.

“By this directive, therefore, the ministry of housing and urban development wishes to enjoin members of the general public to desist from any form of transactions relating to ZUREP until further directives are issued,” added the statement.
