10 EFCC officials arrested for stealing operational items in Lagos zonal office
Ten officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been detained over missing operational items suspected to have been stolen in its Lagos office.
The anti-graft agency announced in a statement on Wednesday that it is investigating their alleged involvement in the theft.
“10 officers of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are being detained over investigation of some missing items involving them,” the statement said.
“The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for.”
The agency stated that investigators are making good progress and that those found culpable will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes.
The EFCC said the measure is in its continued efforts to sweep the agency clean of corrupt tendencies.
