10 lecturers become professors as FULafia approves new promotions
The Governing Council, Federal University Lafia (FULafia), has approved the promotion of 10 associate professors to the rank of professors and 23 other academic staff members to the rank of associate professors.
Nuradeen Abdu, registrar of the university, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday in Lafia.
According to the registrar, the promotions were ratified by the council during its 24th regular meeting, held on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.
“Those promoted to the rank of professor include Igono Joseph, Department of French, Muhammad Kabiru-Dahiru, Department of Geography, Dlama Zira-Joseph, Department of Radiography, Ogwola Idoko-Robert, Department of Public Administration, and Onwuka Jude-Chinedu, Department of Science Laboratory Technology.
“Others are, Binin Etsuyankpa-Muhammad, Department of Chemistry, Johnson Akinade-Bamikola, Department of Physics, Ogah Musa-Ari, Department of Political Science, Charity Justin-Takyun, Department of Psychology, and Stephen Sunday-Ojo the Department of Sociology,” he stated.
The registrar said the Vice Chancellor (V’C) of the university, Shehu Abdul-Rahman, congratulated the newly promoted lecturers on behalf of the council.
According to him, the VC expressed the hope that their elevation would result in strengthening the university’s academic capacity.
He also charged them to work harder, to justify the confidence reposed in them by the university community.
