The Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, Babatunde Hunpe, has said his administration is instituting a N400 million empowerment scheme, tagged: “Asiwaju Conditional Cash Transfer.”

Mr Hunpe stated this at the news conference on his 100 days in office, held at the council’s chamber in Ajara, Badagry, Lagos State.

According to him, the empowerment is aimed at supporting 4,000 families with N100,000 each within 20 months.

He said, “Our economic programmes for youths and women, especially in skills development and small-business support have already taken off too. We will also be establishing PoS business for 100 residents of Badagry Local Government.”

The chairman said that in 100 days, his administration had commenced the construction of three strategic community link roads across  communities in the LG to improve mobility, commerce, and safety.

“If we maintain this pace, Badagry will witness not less than 40 completed roads by the end of our first term. We intend to make road development a signature of our tenure,” he said.

On education, Mr Hunpe ‎said because education was the lifeline of any developing society, his administration was committed to upgrading the council primary schools.

“Today, I am proud to report that we have delivered the full reconstruction of an entire school; complete with three new classroom blocks with offices, modern learning facilities and improved toilet.

“We are not just building structures; we are building the minds that will shape the future of Badagry,” he said.

The chairman said that one of the pillars of his administration was the revival of Badagry’s tourism potential.

He noted, “With the inauguration of BLG Tourism Committee, we set in motion, a coordinated agenda to restore our tourism assets, promote our heritage, and create jobs through culture-driven economic expansion. Badagry must reclaim its rightful place as Nigeria’s top historical tourism destination.”

On health and social welfare, Mr Hunpe said his administration had within 100 days expanded medical outreach in underserved areas.

“We have provided support to vulnerable households, empowered widows, and began an overhaul of our primary healthcare centres to ensure better service delivery. The controversial Pota Primary Health Centre is now a reference to how the masses wants government to respond to their plights.

“We took a bold and decisive step by totally remodelling the Pota PHC, raising it to a standard that will set the benchmark for PHCs across Lagos State.

“If we maintain this consistency, we expect to remodel all our PHCs before the end of this administration’s first term in office,” he said.

‎The chairman promised to hold traditional rulers, chiefs, and community elders in high esteem.

“We have continued to engage constructively the traditional institution and will continue to provide support that reinforces their dignity, relevance, and peaceful coexistence within our communities. Within 100 days in office, we have reviewed the impress of our `Aholus’ upward and ensured they got timely assistance on matters that concerned them,” he said.

The chairman said his first 100 days had laid a solid foundation for the greater work ahead to the glory of God, adding that his people were already enjoying the dividends of the trust they reposed in them.

He said, “We pledge that our administration would not be one of excuses but of results.”
